From me to you: resources and helpful tools for regulation, exploration and validation
Birth is more than a medical event — it is a powerful nervous system and sensory experience.
Even when births are medically uncomplicated, many parents describe lingering feelings of overwhelm, disconnection, or confusion about what happened during labor and delivery.
One important factor that shapes the birth experience is agency — the ability to understand what is happening and remain an active participant in the process.
I recently created a simple Birth Experience Bill of Rights that highlights important considerations for parents during labor and delivery, including:
• the right to understand what is happening
• the right to ask questions and participate in decisions
• the importance of emotional and nervous system support
• the impact of disruptions and loss of control during birth
• the value of postpartum reflection and integration
This guide is designed to support parents, partners, and clinicians in creating birth experiences that honor both medical safety and embodied experience.
If you are navigating pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, or birth processing, I also provide counseling support for individuals and families across Central Florida.
